LoLHistory Android App

LoLHistory is a new Android app I’m working on. It utilizes the RiotGames API to pull summoner data and display it on your Android device. The project is very much a work in progress with new designs and features being released at a rapid pace. LoLHistory requires no sign in and only very basic permissions so that you can enjoy it right away!

Features:

+ Recent Match History
+ Per champion stat breakdowns
+ Personal League information (rank, lp etc.)

You can get the app for free from the Google PlayStore:

Download LoLHistory now!

I’m trying to make the app as useful as possible for other league players like myself. I’ve already picked up some great feedback and am constantly looking for more ways to improve LoLHistory. Earth 2150 startup crash

There are a few known causes of the Earth 2150 startup crash. In some cases the game won’t actually crash but you’ll get a black screen with game sound after the intro videos have finished. I’ve listed some of the popular solutions to the crash/black screen issues below. You may need to do some or all of these to get the game to work if you are experiencing these issues.

  • Switch to OpenGL Renderer. Run “Setup.exe” in your Earth 2150 installation directory and switch to one of the OpenGL Hardware resolutions and press OK. Then start the game again. This will also fix the Earth 2150 Construction Center crash.
    Note: If you installed the game through steam, right click on your Earth 2150 library entry and select “Graphics settings” to open your Setup.exe.
  • Disable intro video. Run “Setup.exe” and turn off “Play intro”. If you installed the game through steam, right click on your Earth 2150 library entry and select “Graphic Settings”.  If you do not have a steam install, navigate to your Earth 2150 installation folder and run “Setup.exe”.
  • Disable data execution prevention. Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Under Tab “Advanced” click Settings under “Performance” > Click Tab “Data Execution Prevention”

If you’ve followed the above steps and are still having issues with the Earth 2150 startup crash, please post in the comments below. To increase your chances of a solution being found include as much detail as possible (which version of the game you’re running, what operating system you have, what video card you have and steps to reproduce the issue). Screenshots are also very useful!

Earth 2150 construction center crash

When playing Earth 2150 or the expansions, some people have reported noticing the Earth 2150 construction center crash. This crash happens as soon as you open the Construction Center in game (press F1). The crash will give you the following (general) error message:

Earth 2150 has stopped working

earth2150_stopped_working

It seems like the crash is related to some instabilities in the graphics engine for the game – it doesn’t seem to like resolutions that are not 4:3 aspect, or are too large (stick to 1280x1024x32 or less). To fix this crash:

  1. Open the graphics settings menu. If you installed the game through steam, go to your library, select the game and hit play. Then select the “Graphics settings” option when it comes up. You cannot edit the graphics for this game from within the game itself! If you do not have a steam install, navigate to your Earth 2150 installation folder and run “Setup.exe”.
  2. Select an OpenGL Hardware configuration. Do not select Direct3d HAL! Even though there are numerous available display settings only a few of them work, and there seem to be other issues with Direct3d for the game. Any of the OpenGL configurations should get around the Earth 2150 construction center crash.
  3. Test your desired configuration and hit OK.
  4. Run the game again. Your new settings should now be applied.

If you’ve followed the above steps and are still having issues with the Earth 2150 construction center crash, please post in the comments below. To increase your chances of a solution being found include as much detail as possible (which version of the game you’re running, what operating system you have, what video card you have and steps to reproduce the issue). Screenshots are also very useful!

Dead Space could not initialize display hardware

One of the most frequently seen issues with the Dead Space series is the Dead Space could not initialize display hardware issue. If you have this issue, when you start the game you’ll likely get an Error popup with the following message:

Could not initialize display hardware. Please restart Dead Space

This issue is often caused by having an unsupported resolution for your system/monitor configuration. There are a few possible solutions to this issue that you can try below (ordered by success rate):

  • Manually edit your resolution in settings.txt. The specific properties you want to edit are:
    Window.Height = 1080
    Window.Width = 1920
    I would recommend you try a very small resolution to start e.g.
    Window.Height = 480
    Window.Width = 640
    Your settings.txt file will be located in:
    C:\Users\<YOUR USER>\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\<DEAD SPACE TITLE>\settings.txt
    NOTE: AppData is a hidden folder. You’ll have to enable show hidden folders to see it.
    NOTE: If you don’t have this settings file, you can use this one to start.
  • Force the game to run in windowed mode. While this is not an ideal solution, it is another option, and can help you at least get the game started so you can try to narrow down the exact settings that will work for you. To force the game to run in windowed mode, in your settings.txt file set the Window.Fullscreen property to false AKA:
    Window.Fullscreen = false
  • Reinstall video drivers
  • Reinstall DirectX. Steps on how to reinstall DirectX can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113
  • Try some of the solutions from the Dead Space has stopped working post. While these solutions are not specific to the “could not initialize display hardware” issue, they cover a wide range of potential crash causes and are worth trying if you’ve run out of ideas.

If you’ve followed the above steps and are still experiencing the Dead Space could not initialize display hardware issue, please post in the comments below. To increase your chances of a solution being found include as much detail as possible (which version of the game you’re running, what operating system you have, what video card you have and steps to reproduce the issue). Dead Space invisible wall

On some machines you may encounter the annoying Dead Space invisible wall issue. This issue usually appears in the room in which you first get the plasma cutter. After the cutscene completes you cannot pass through the door. You can see exactly what this looks like in the video below:

The solution to this issue for most people is the same on that solves the Dead Space mouse lag issue:

  1. Turn on VSync in your control panel. Load your NVIDIA Control Panel and under manage 3D settings change your Vertical sync option to “On”. You can do this either in the Global Settings (force on for all programs)  or in the Program Settings under the Dead Space entry.
    nvidia_control_panel
  2. Turn off VSync in game. Start Dead Space, go to to options > visuals and toggle VSync off. If you can’t start the game to disable VSync see this post for some potential solutions to startup crashes.

If you’ve followed the above steps and are still experiencing the Dead Space invisible wall issue, please post in the comments below. To increase your chances of a solution being found include as much detail as possible (which version of the game you’re running, what operating system you have, what video card you have and steps to reproduce the issue). Screenshots are also very useful!
