Age of Mythology widescreen

Age of Mythology doesn’t have any widescreen resolutions but you can manually force the game in a widescreen resolution using the config file.

  1. Right click on your Age of Mythology shortcut and select properties.
  2. In the target field add the following option after the location of the .exe file:
    xres=1366 yres=768
    E.g. C:\Program Files\Age of Mythology\aomx.exe xres=1366 yres=768
    Make sure the xres and yres are smaller then or equal to your monitors maximum resolution or you’ll run into the initialization failed issue.

If you’ve followed the above steps and are still having issues setting up Age of Mythology widescreen, please post in the comments below. To increase your chances of a solution being found include as much detail as possible (which version of the game you’re running, what operating system you have, what video card you have and steps to reproduce the issue). Screenshots are also very useful!

    Hi , I tried the below as advised by adding the resolution to the short
    In the target field add the following option after the location of the .exe file:
    xres=1366 yres=768
    C:\Program Files\Age of Mythology\aomx.exe xres=1366 yres=768

    After making change the screen resolution does not change

    I also added user.cgf (with xres=1366 yres=768) in location
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\startup but still the same issue, screen resolution won’t change

    I use a Windows 10

    Just to help you, when I first installed the game I added the user.cfg file and the screen size was extended, it did fit correctly to the screen but some time later all of a sudden the screen size came to half of the screen. It looks the same way when I installed the game before adding the user.cfg file. I also tried reinstalling the game but won’t help

    Could you please assist here

    Thanks in advance!!
